  • Participated the 25th annual conference of Tamil Nadu Public Health Entomologist Association symposium on Vector and vector borne diseases on 29th and 30th January 1997 in American college Madurai. "A check list for the vectors of Japanese encephalitis virus infections in India was given for the proceedings.
  • Participated and presented a paper on "Techniques to study vector competence of mosquitoes for Japanese encephalitis virus" in the scientific symposium on Vectors and vector borne diseases held at Goa from 17-19th March 1997 by the National Academy of Vector borne diseases, Bhuvaneswar.
  • Participated and presented a paper on "Isolation of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) from Culex (Culex) infula theobald in Tamil Nadu, India" in the scientific symposium on Vector and vector borne diseases held at Puri from 30.06.1998- 01.07.1998 by the National Academy of Vector borne diseases, Bhubaneswar.
  • Participated the Training workshop for formulating “Guidelines on prevention and control of Japanese encephalitis" 5-7 May 1999 at the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Delhi.
  • Participated the National Conference on “Biotechnology: Hitherto & Henceforth” held at the American College, Madurai- 625 002 from 28th to 30th December 1999 and presented a paper on "Role played by different species of mosquitoes in the epidemiology of JE in India".
  • Participated and presented a paper on "Effect of Japanese encephalitis virus infection on the survival of Cx.tritaeniorhynchus " in the 5 th International scientific symposium on Vector and vector borne diseases held at Patiala, Punjab from 16.02.2000 - 18.02.2000 by the National Academy of Vector Borne Diseases, Bhubaneswar.
  • Participated a symposium on Recent trends in combating mosquitoes conducted by the School of entomology and Centre for Natural Resources Management, Post Graduate Department, Loyola college, Madras and presented a paper on "Japanese encephalitis in India with special reference to the surveillance tools and control measures."
  • Participated the 6th International symposium on vectors and vector borne diseases organized by national Academy of Vector borne diseases & Regional Medical Research Centre Bhubaneswar from 9th to 11 th February ,2002.

  • Training programmes:
    • A tour was undertaken to VCRC field unit, cherthala, kerala on 07.08.1996 to demonstrate human and animal (Goat) bleeding methods for JE studies in Kuttanadu area.

    • Underwent a training on mouse brain antigen preparation and Tissue culture from 15.6.2001 to 06.07.2001 at National Institute of Virology, Pune.
    • Underwent a training on the preparation of JE, DEN and WN antigens from 07.03.2002 to 14.03.2002 at Institute of Vector Control and Zoonosis, Hosur.


  • Teaching:
    • Explained in detail about the vertical transmisson of JE virus in the JE vectors and also about the vector competence of mosquitoes to the Sacred Heart Nursing college students, Madurai on 04.-0.1996.
    • Explained in detail about the methods involved in the inoculation of Toxorhynchites larvae and IIFA methods to the DRP nurses Gandhigram Institiute of Rural Health and Family Welfare Trust, Ambatturai, Dindigal on 22.11.1996.
    • Various activities on JE were briefed to the DPH Entomology trainees Institute of Vector control and Zoonoses, Hosur on 06.12.1996.
    • During 1996 invited as an external examiner for the M.Phil. Zoology- dissertation from Thiagarajar college, Madurai.
    • Delivered a talk on Dengue fever which was broadcasted by the All India Radio, Madurai in the Health Magazine Programme on 05.01.1997 at 9.30 pm.
    • Invited as a member of the board of examiners in Vector Biology course for M.Phil. final examination of the American college, Madurai for the past six years 1995-2001.
    • Invited as an external examiner for the M.Phil. Zoology dissertation and viva-voce held at American college, Madurai for the past six years 1995-2001.

  • A Ph.D. student from Dept of Virology, King Institute, Chennai underwent training programme on Toxo- IFA & ELISA from 24.09.2001 to 05.10.2001.
  • A lecturer from Thiruvananthapuram college came here to undergo training on screening of Ae.aegypti mosquitoes by ELISA & Toxorhynchites splendens -IFA from September 24 to October 5 ,2001..
  • I was called to deliver a lecture on “Japanese encephalitis and its control” in Fatima College for the Zoology Association meeting on 30-1-2002.
  • Participated the Swadeshi vigyan Mela -Industrial Fair -2002 a Science & Technology exhibition at Ernakulam / Cochin from 12-19 January 2002.
  • Received a paper entitled “Susceptibility of Culex sitiens to Japanese encephalitis virus in Peninsular Malaysia “ from the editors of Tropical Medicine International Health London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine for summary evaluation.
  • Resource person for the JE work shop held from September 26-28,2001 and delivered a lecture on “Transmission of Japanese encephalitis” at CRME Madurai for the state health officials.
