Projects undertaken: 1. A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial of Tuberculosis Preventive therapy in HIV-infected individuals starting on Antiretroviral Therapy 2. A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial Comparing Daily Vs. Intermittent 6 – Months’ Short Course Chemotherapy in reducing Failures & Emergence of Acquired Rifampicin Resistance (ARR) in patients with HIV and Pulmonary TB 3. Changes in HIV viral load in patients undergoing treatment for filarial infection 4. Evaluation of safety and efficacy of two different once daily anti-retroviral treatment regimens along with anti-tuberculosis treatment in patients with HIV-1 and tuberculosis 5. To study the efficacy of two prophylaxis regimens for TB in HIV positive persons. 6. Randomized clinical trial to assess the efficacy of short course regimens for the treatment of HIV associated tuberculosis. 7. Prevalence of Tuberculosis in Chennai City – Epidemiological Study. 8. Influence of Tobacco Smoking in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients – Epidemiological Study. 9. Community workers Solidarity in Case management of Tuberculosis- operational study. 10. Effect of diabetes on tuberculosis severity.( EDOTS)
